Is it cheaper to rent ski / pass when we get Q'town or before you go?

Hello, We are planning a trip to Queenstown, July.We end was a quote from our agent and the price of hiring and purchase of pass is very high! I want an opinion on local weather conditions to take our ski equipment such as skis or boots, etc. and purchase our packages for lifting and handling, when he arrives in Queenstown? Is it cheaper? Depends. Where are you? If you are flying from Somewhere in the North Island, I would not say that the rent Qtown. If you are driving or I would hire CHCH Dunedin before leaving.
